Erste Begegnungen mit einer Meisterdiebin
Even after all these years, I feel bad about David. He was one of the best of the generation of fantasy and S&S writers which came up through the fanzines and semi-prozines of the 1970s. His work could best be described as "punk S&S."
She imagined she heard the thin ululation of a nightdemon beyond a fold in the hills, but surely that was her own imagination, for this area was so sparsely settled there could not be enough primitive minds gathered to bring even one of their crude demons into being.

Historically, the pattern of Italian commercial cinema has been an overlapping succession of genre cycles. Usually, but not invariably, triggered by the domestic popularity either of a specific American film or of a traditional Hollywood genre, these cycles come and go in a few years. During the short lifespan of any individual cycle, an incredible number of similar films are rushed through production and into distribution before the format wears thin and the popularity fades.*Einige dieser Zyklen spiegelten darüberhinaus auch etwas von den gesellschaftlichen Entwicklungen der Zeit wider.
- Why can't we marry?- Ator, we are brother and sister.- I'll talk with our father.

Expeditionen ins Reich der Eighties-Barbaren (XIX): "Hawk the Slayer"
He wanted to come to England, he thought he could do something with the part, he liked the fun of it [...] I believe he got $100,000. He stayed in a small hotel in Soho, but on the set he shared a caravan with everyone else. There were no airs about the man, though he put me to the test at times – asking me what Voltan’s motivation was for adopting two children and so on.
We were so lucky in Hawk because we had people like Roy Kinnear, who came in to do a few lines as the Innkeeper and Graham Stark, who I’d worked with on the Pink Panther films, playing Sparrow; you always get extra from those sorts of people because they’re such distinctive character actors.Für die Hauptrolle engagierte man den Neuling John Terry, der auch in There Goes the Bride mitgespielt hatte. Zu seinen Mitstreiter*innen gehörten aber auch bekanntere Namen wie Patricia "Magenta" Quinn als "Zauberin", Carry On - Regular Bernard Bresslaw als "Gort, der Riese" und Theater- und TV-Veteran William Morgan Sheppard als "Ranulf".
I’m a Pinewood boy – and they were very kind to me, they did an all-in deal for butkus; told us we could help ourselves to anything we could find, so we went around looking at props and pieces of set and whatever we could use!
I wrote some of the score whilst on location. I would see how the scenes were coming out and then do a bit of writing or just jot down some ideas as and when I got them. It was an interesting experience because I had most of the score ready before the cameras had stopped rolling.
Hawk was a fantasy western if you like. That’s why the score has little trills and motifs on it when we see the hero or the villain of the piece; it was my homage to Morricone and also the spaghetti western score.
"The one and only" halt ...
* Die Firma produzierte später noch Prisoners of the Lost Universe (1983) und Jane and the Lost City (1987), hielt also dem Pulp-Phantastischen die Treue.
