Sword, Sorcery & Psychedelia
They asked me to do a story with you dressed in a steal breastplate and some leather straps, which made you look like a Roman centurion or a transvestite disguised as a drag queen. I'm a contractor who must work for money, so I accepted the job. It was like making love with a street hooker, some episodes I'd rather forget and hope you can forgive me. (2)
With just 24 pages for 13p it was considerably more expensive than other comics. (Most IPC comics were 3p for 32 pages back then, whilst Mighty World of Marvel was 40 pages for 5p.) However this was no ordinary comic. [...] it was full colour throughout (at a time when most British comics were mainly black and white) and was printed on quality paper stock.
In his own words: 'Show as much skin as possible'"
(2) In: Red Sonja: The Ballad of the Red Goddess. S. 10.

Let Me Tell You Of The Days Of High Adventure
Before Amazons!, if you looked really hard, you might very occasionally find a sword & sorcery tale with swordfighting women, & nine times out of ten she’d be more of a sex goddess than heroic figure. But after Amazons!, which was extremely well received & topped the Locus list & such like, a veritable floodgate opened, so that soon after Amazon heroic fantasies were practically the dominant form.
Alles in allem ist The Robber Girl ganz sicher – "Schnipp-Schnapp-Schnuff!"
